One
Paycheck at a Time, Inc., www.OnePaycheckataTime.com,
a California company, will donate 10%
of its 2005 net income to PXE International,
www.pxe.org,
in the hopes of finding a cure for the
rare genetic disorder, Pseudoxanthoma
Elasticum (PXE).
San Diego, Calif. – February
1, 2005 - One Paycheck at a Time, Inc.
announced today its commitment to PXE
International in finding a cure for
the rare genetic condition, Pseudoxanthoma
Elasticum (PXE). By donating 10% of
its 2005 net income, and 100% of its
affiliate commissions through the website’s
shopping resources, One Paycheck at
a Time will assist in funding the important
medical research that is underway.
PXE International set out last summer
to raise $300,000 for a clinical study
to be conducted at the National Institute
of Health (NIH). Through the PXE International
Capital Campaign, the organization has
successfully raised $250,000. However,
it is short $50,000 to kickoff the program
and will need to raise an ongoing $100,000
per year in order to take advantage
of this research opportunity. “This
research will allow us to better understand
the condition, hopefully find a cure,
and assist in the production of materials
to educate clinicians about PXE,”
states Executive Director of PXE International,
Sharon Terry, “We are optimistic
that companies, such as One Paycheck
at a Time, who offer the commitment
to donate part of their annual profits,
will ensure that the program is funded
for success.”
Pseudoxanthoma elasticum, PXE, is an
inherited disorder that is caused by
a cell defect in the body. Because of
this unknown defect, elastic tissue
in certain areas of the body becomes
mineralized. People have this disease
experience:
- skin texture abnormalities
- vision problems, often causing
blindness
- cardiovascular system challenges
- gastrointestinal system problems
“It is my paramount goal to offer
people a sensible approach to get out
of debt with the One Paycheck at a Time
book and eTools program,” states
President and Author of One Paycheck
at a Time, Kimberly A. Griffiths, who
is affected by PXE. She continues, “Each
day, I find tremendous satisfaction
in knowing that the One Paycheck at
a Time products are having a positive
influence in peoples’ lives. Nothing
would please me more to contribute part
of the product profits to the important
medical research that PXE International
is pursuing.”
